Welcome to my blog! An introduction is in order. Life has many ups and downs for most of us (some of us more than others) but somehow we make it through. We get up everyday, go to work or school, and spend the majority of our nights working on projects or trying to relax. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. We Persevere. We Fight. We Stand Up.
Thinking back, my teenage years were pretty rough and I needed something to keep me going. I needed a mantra. Something that grounded me. I was writing a lot of poetry at the time and I remember writing a poem entitled “The Phoenix.” I might have just re-read some of the Harry Potter books–so shout out to J.K. Rowling for inspiring my entire childhood! From that point on I referred to myself as the Phoenix. The majestic, mythical bird that self-combusts, rises from the ashes, and is reborn again. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve risen from the ashes. But the point is I keep rising. Some women are built in the fire; others are lost in it. I have always chosen to rise. One day, I will fly.
